Great Dane (short coat) : : Female (spayed)
Learn more about the Great Dane.
Hello my name is Freya, and I am the “Self-Proclaimed” Queen of dogs for Norway
I am a fabulous looking 6 y ear old Great Dane Female
I am a HOUSE Dog and prefer to be in the house unless you are outside, and I have to hangout with you, or see what you are doing.
I like to be around my owners but also I like to spend quality time with myself either in my Kennel or on a doggie bed.
My current roommate has a screen door which I LOVE to look out at people and dogs who walk by. I admit, sometime I will react with a simple bark or may ignore them.
I love to go on walks, but keep in mind – I am considered older so lets not go on SUPER long hikes.
My roommate says I am the most mellow dog to go on walks with. I like to stay next to the person walking me, unless of course I see something that I need to sniff.
While walking I barely will react to other dogs, even those who wish to bark and worship me. I will ignore or maybe glance at them.
I have been told that I react well to dogs that are smaller to me. This has not been tested.
Due to I’m a Outstanding Looking Great Dane – people always want to stop and talk, pet, etc… which I am okay with… as long as you approach me slowly. My owner will have to get use to becoming the center of attention with other people.
We have learned that it is best to feed me outside, and I will usually eat all my food at 1 setting. Otherwise if you feed me inside the house I will graze, and will be more curious what you are doing.
Currently I eat a mixture of dry and can “equal parts” . W e have found that if you change up what I eat… you may have issues with diarrhea and me .
My roommate and I have developed a routine
•
early morning - I get let outside to do my business
•
Go on our morning walk
•
Come back and I go in the back yard to resume my business and drink water
•
15 mins later – I get fed
I am very easy on being by myself. I just need to see what boarder that you do not want me to cross… EX – going into the bedroom – by either closing door or putting up a baby gate. ANY area that you do not want me snoop around – just put up a simple barrier and I will respect it.
My roommate has set up a “baby Mattress ” in my kennel which I adore, and I look so cute when I am asleep. I LOVE spending time in there, so if you are busy I am good staying in there.
I understand some commands, but my roommate is lazy and does not go over these with me, except come here, or No don’t do that
I will be honest – I am protective, so if you come into the home that my roommate and I live, I will bark at you. I would suggest meeting me outside and we both come in.
I will also admit – I am not sure how I will react to kids/ children. I have not been put in that situation so I don’t know.
If I want to go outside or come in… my roommate has a sliding door, so either I will give a “signal” bark or paw s w ipe on the door to let you know I am ready to go out or come in
I am okay with getting baths, but I LOVE to get brush
I don’t play with toys so don’t think about it… waste of time, and I will look at you like you are crazy.
