Hi folks, my name is Sawyer, and I am a Black and White Great Dane that just turned 5, but you wouldn't know it if I didn't tell you.

I look and play like a much younger pup, and I have the energy to keep up with any dog out there. I am rough and tumble, but can also chill with the best of them. I am crate trained, and leash trained but I will pull a little bit on walks, but I don't try to chase anything or wander off the path I just like to lead, but my foster dad is working on this with me and sees that I am willing to be corrected and learn how to do better.

I was an outside dog most of my life before coming into rescue so I didn't know about potty training until I went to my first foster family, and they taught me a lot, and my current foster parents have continued my training and I am housebroken now.

I'm pretty mild-mannered but do like to play hard with my dog foster brother and sister and we will run through the house if you let us. I love toys of all kinds, especially rope toys and squeaky toys and I will work hard to get that squeaker out of each and every one of them! I don't typically jump up on anyone, I don't counter surf, and when you sit down to dinner I might come near you to investigate but after you tell me to go I will not beg and I will go lie down. I know basic commands and if you offer me a treat I will sit down before you even have to ask me, that is how good a boy I am! 

I get along with dogs of all sizes and shapes, but I do like to play rough so they should be able to keep up with me and tolerate some rough-housing. I also get along with children and even the cats I have encountered so far but that has been limited. I will bark at strangers approaching the house from a distance, but I am not aggressive, and will not try to go after them, and I stop barking once I know they belong there. I don't try to escape when you open the door to leave, but I would love it if you took me with you, and I get super excited when you touch my leash. I will sit down to let you attach my leash if you ask me a couple of times, and then I am ready to go. I would do well in an active household with other dogs but would do equally well in a slightly less active environment with adults that will give me lots of love and attention.
